It's a Wonderful Town

Hi Family,

My first trip back to New York since moving to LA has been like seeing an ex-boyfriend.
At first, I was excited and happy to see the town - there will always be a reason I was attracted in the first place, right?

Then it snowed and hailed on me for days.
And it took all my money.
And it made me work, a lot.
And I realize that perhaps I left him behind is because he doesn't really take good care of me.

I'm tired, though very well fed.
Last night we had three dinners -
we first stopped at The Spotted Pig for chicken liver on toast and haddock chowder made with a stick of butter.
Then to a cocktail party at a Venetian/Italian spot called Locanda Veneta - about 14 pigs were sacrificed to four obscene heaps of prosciutto and salami, unfortunately for somebody, the turnout was weak. Not unfortunately for me and my prosciutto-loving face.
Next we stopped by the Odeon for a post-dinner/appetizers. I had tea.
The office is big and bright, the people are nice, and the work is plentiful. My friends are all doing really well and I haven't bought one thing that wasn't edible. Tomorrow night we're going to a play and then we have to go to Boston and then, finally, we get to return to our sweet tree house at the intersection of calm and sunshine. I'm looking forward to it.

Miss you family. Sorry I don't have any pictures to send - but if you go look at a dirty wall in a public bathroom for a couple of minutes you'll know what New York is looking like right now.

holly hunter and anna paquin from jane campion's the piano. One of my favorite movies, and directors. Harvey Keitel is crazy hot in this movie, with all the tattoos. If I were to ever fill out one of those questionaires that asks me what is my favorite cinematic sex scene it would be this entire movie. And I love the music, and I love her wooden finger, and I love the fairy wings on the little girls, and I love the image of the piano sucking her down into the ocean.

Black Swan

Just saw Black Swan by Darren Aronofsky.

I am completely blown away. I haven't ever in my life been so transported by a film like this. I left the theater in a daze, like I was on drugs. Natalie Portman was sensational. She should win a lifesize Oscar made of diamonds and chocolate. The costumes were so beautiful. Those tutus omg. The grey one she carries around with her. I love that.

Ben asked me if I hated the mother. I thought Barbara Hershey - well ALL of the actors - were great. Terrific. And, no, I don't hate the mother. I feel that the movie was so from the point of view of Nina that everything I feel about the mother is what the ballerina herself feels. Love, anger, hate, fear. I think that the director played his cards all right. This was a Kubrick-esque feat of complete creative freedom and a complete vision and total high art. I couldn't stop crying when the credits rolled. Granted, I cry at any movie because I dunno it's such an intimate experience of being alone, in the dark with a hundred other people.

Black Swan was a brilliant example of the play within the play reflecting each other ala Hamlet, while avoiding the pitfalls and cliches of the trope. And avoiding the usual cliches and pitfalls of the dual personae within a character both fighting to survive. I am so pleased that Black Swan wasn't predictable.

It was simply amazing, and I am not saying this because I don't have the vocabulary to use another word. I am truly amazed at the performances, the transformation, the art direction, the camera work. other random thoughts can't put into completion at the moment: the unromanticization of the ballet; comparisons to the red shoes and to showgirls (sorry), the horror and the beauty- the horror casting such a deep dark shadow over the beauty that it truly puts into question the sacrifices she made for her art, for the dancing. It seemed that before this role she never truly 'lost' herself in her dancing, and that by losing herself to the dark side of her art she basically lost her life, and eventually her art. Is it all worth it? Absolutely yes. I don't know what kind of dark passages Darren and Natalie had to go down to make this movie, but for me it was a rapturous experience and I felt completely shaken by it. I couldn't see straight leaving the theater. It might have been because I haven't changed my contact lenses in a few weeks, but I like to think that my head was spinning from the ecstatic horror.

It's exciting when someone you know if featured in the NYTimes website.

Christene Barberich is the Fashion Director of refinery29.com - a fantastic fashion web rag (I write for them sometimes). Here's a story on her fashion life.

Christene has such pretty coloring, and clothes, and I love her haircut. She has the perfect blend of auburn and wave. Lucky.

LA in fall is crisp and reminds me of walking to the bus stop with my dad and the dog, hanging out with the kids and singing songs and laughing at Phil (the dog) because he was dirty and had anger management issues. Super early September days, LA as a child.

New York in fall is serious anticipation - for snow, for Christmas decorations, for freezing temps and praying for no pneumonia. Excitement and anxiety and changing leaves.

Time has been quite a lull lately. A lull in terms of blog posting, but not, apparently, a lull in terms of eating.
Things we've been doing: working, walking up the Silverlake hills and around the Silverlake reservoir, making super spicy pumpkin curry soup, wearing orange Dries Van Noten sweaters, looking at old photos, watching a dvd, buying Juniper Ridge sweet grass incense fromDriftwood, eating sweet Seitenbacher muesli from Three Squares Bakery, dreaming of Isabel Marant jackets, cleaning the house and making it prettier...

My Favorite Pizza: An International List

1. Pizza al Volo, Campo Santa Margherita, Venice, Italy. Best spicy Diavola slice. I ate there practically every day for a year. That's the stuff dreams are made of.

2. Joe's Pizza on Mercer Street, New York NY. I guess I prefer it by the slice.

3. Ricotta Pizza at Place whose Name Shall be Forgotten, Ischia, Italy. Made by a pair of the nerdiest twin brothers you've ever seen. Homemade ricotta.

4. Pepe's Pizza, New Haven, CT. Clam and Garlic and the Salami. One of each!

The Cambridge Cake

One of my favorite things to do, always, has been to sit and read (I know, I know...this is soooo internetty) Julia Child's "The Way to Cook." No, no I'm not embarking on some gimicky personal cooking challenge to keep myself occupied. Rather, I am just recounting something I enjoy to do on days when there isn't much to do except think about cooking. I am planning a "Paris" themed dinner for next week for some friends who sadly have had to postpone their France trip due to some untimely issues, let's say, and so I'm treating them to some good old French standards. So, to whom do I turn to? Julia, of course!

Reading through "TWTC" is something I've always done, as long as the book has been around (well, around me). When I was fifteen I had my birthday off from school for a semester break. I remember it was a cold January day in LA and, having just finished finals and not really wanting to do anything other than stay in and bake myself a fancy cake - specifically the s0-called "Cambridge Cake" that is the cover star of TWTC's Cakes & Cookies section (page 454). This is what we did and still do at my mother's house - there is no cable, no video games, nothing to do but to bake elaborate dishes and play canasta. I remember when my lovely mother brought home the tome that is Julia Child's "The Way to Cook." I thought it one of the most beautiful cookbooks I had ever seen. Up until then she just had her copy of "The Joy of Cooking" which was held together with brown packing tape and had family recipes up and down the inner covers. That book, her old Julia cookbooks of course, which I actually never really picked up until that movie came out last year, a collection of hilarious Time Life "Cookbooks of the World," and maybe some Wolfgang Puck books which were cute and had great recipes, but were nothing like this one. "The Way to Cook" was the biggest cookbook I had ever seen, and had such sumptuous photos and so charmingly written. I think I've read it cover to cover 1,000 times over my lifetime. When I moved back to LA in June and into my own house she gave me my very own copy.

Back when I was fifteen and drooling over the pictures in TWTC, the Cambridge Cake was my favorite page. The walls and ribbons of black chocolate, layers and layers of beautiful Genoise cake tied up in bows of creamy, mocha-y French buttercream frosting. I determined that day, my fifteenth birthday, that, fuck it, I'm going to make this cake. It's just a bloody cake, how hard could it be? Well, it took me all day and looked nothing like the picture, but it was damn good. My chocolate wall was cracked and uneven, but my cake was moist and the buttercream buttery and smooth. I was quite proud of myself, having mastered making madeleines and cookies of all kinds, this cake was a triumph. A delicious, delicious triumph.

Coen Brothers+Western=Best movies ever! Does "The Big Lebowski" count? Yes!!!

Can't wait for their version of "True Grit."

Just finished reading "True Grit." Well, listened to, if we are being completely honest here. I downloaded it because it is narrated by Donna Tartt, one of my favorite writers. She gives a wonderful interpretation and performance being the voice of the 14 year old heroine, Mattie Ross. And I'm super duper excited for the Coen Brothers take on this, with Jeff Bridges and Josh Brolin. I never saw the John Wayne version and I don't know if I will. I might just re-listen/read the book. It's really fantastic, action packed and funny. Mattie's voice is dry and straightforward, a real character, and the wild wild west setting is pure dusty excitement. I think the young Jodie Foster would have been perfect for this part. I hope the girl they picked can do the Mattie Ross in my head justice. This is a plum role for a young actress, but she's such an iconic character that it's going to be hard for her to get in the critics' good graces.

After reading about Leonard Koren's house in the New York Times I am not determined to at least look at all his precious little books about design, and design philosophy.

And This lady from a still from a Garance Dore film from Sonia Rykiel's fashion show. I think I know who this is but I can't remember her name. She looks like Lisa Mayock and has a great haircut. I am collecting curly haired pictures because I've broken the first rule of being a woman which is cutting my own hair and now I need a genius pair of sheers to bring me back to the light.

And finally Luise Rainer. She looks like my friend Tanya (or, vice versa rather), and was stunning in "The Great Ziegfeld." She was the first woman to win two Oscars back to back and then disappeared from the scene. The first Winona Ryder type, pre-Audrey Hepburn waif.

Fashion show month is coming to a close,

and there are so many things to remember for next spring

In my opinion, it's Dries always leading the pack.

I must admit this S11 collection of DVN wasn't my favorite

it felt a little all over the place

and I hate his colors

but I like the slouchiness of it.

And come to think of it,

very similar to ideas in Celine,

though Phoebe Philo seems quite rigid in her style.

I admire the change she's bringing to the ladies of fashion

who were clearly starving for a change from the rocknroll Wang/Balmain look.

And thank god for Phoebe for coming on the scene so strongly.

I was counting the minutes till the Wang look took its last gasp.

So now we are in a camel dream

and headed towards a looser aesthetic,

which makes me happy.

For a season we will have 70s

and Diane Keaton

whom every girl worth her necktie worships.

But then it will evolve into a looser, more laidback look.

Maybe California is getting to me.

I wear my Clu sweatpants a lot these days

as they pass for cigarette pants quite well

and no one can tell that they are actually made of sweatshirt material.

I love it when it rains in Los Angeles.

The weather can be so tedious here.

Hot hot hot, or lately grey grey grey.

Rain is always a welcomed happening in the desert.

I like the chance to wear a coat,

and listen to the drops on my roof,

and know that tomorrow everything is going to be refreshed and green,

and probably sunny.

And that's when I'm happy to see the sun.

The last time I saw rain was the day we drove north out of New York City to Providence.

I am just tired right now,

but feel like writing something down.

These are things I like at the very moment.

Nan Kempner's debutante gown.

Boxing art.

Anita Berber. She was so skinny because she was on drugs and died at 29. But she is certainly iconic now.

Models of my childhood, muted colors, fall is coming but the leaves don't change in California.

And of course the simplicity of this magazine cover makes me eternally happy.

One headline, one model, beautiful and simple and elegant and calm.

I don't know yet what I think of next season's fashions. I kind of don't care, it's all kind of dull to me, except the Vena Cava, the Proenza, and I'm waiting for the Prada, the Dries, the Isabel Marant, and more street pictures from Paris. That's what is exciting to me. These are people who always do wonderful things that predict the future. Of what we are going to wear, which is a secure feeling. But I think what I love most of all of these designers is the colors they choose. The neons of PS, the orange and chartreuse of Vena Cava, the reds and browns of Prada, and the purples, greens, pinks, and again orange of Dries Van Noten. And Isabel, well I just like to watch the feeding frenzy. She's a master at creating that. As is my former employer Jane Mayle who's opening up a pop up any day now, and the blogs are already wagging. I can sense that the Mayleophiles (Maylentologists?) are starting to feel that familiar lurch but that it's now accompanied by a subtle choke. They worked hard on releasing their obsessions and funneling those dollars on new, other designers, but now JM is popping back up with expensive frocks and shoes by Sigerson Morrison. I personally am feeling excitement and also a sense that I kind of want to stay out of the whole thing. But, if she does do another wool trench coat like the one I missed in those final days, I will bite.

And, for the finale, this watch from OK. I've always had a crush on it.

Ines de la Fressange was the Chanel model of the 80s.

She was in almost every campaign throughout that decade.

They should bring her back. I enjoy sophisticated models who are womanly and command respect, or whatever it is, rather than the stick figures rock star babies that are everywhere these days. Dree Hemingway? Give me a break. That girl needs to learn how to read.

Shalom, Christy Turlington, Kristen McMenamy were the Chanel models of the 90s.

These are the earliest Chanel ads I can remember. The red hair, the inception of my obsession with Shalom and little black dresses.

The colors are all my favorite colors,

especially the poppy red,

and the head wraps are soon going to be everywhere,

just wait and see.

The new textures and materials they are working with

make me happy - linen, net, and whatever silk that dress above is made of.

The ease and simplicity of this collection

harkens to the early days of VC,

when they were pulling these

seemingly randomly out of the air

and creating completely new things

that influence fashion so much

but their inception, their VC beginnings,

are rarely acknowledged.

These are girls who have more power than anyone may realize.

This top is a redo, I think, of something they made in one of their earliest collections,

with a zipper all the way up the back,

and a gorgeous abbreviated scoop neck.

I love this version.

My mother lusts over this shirt so much

that I gave it to her.

And, I'm hoping these are the pants I've been begging them to make again!

I think they might be!!!

Another item my mother and I both wear and cherish,

and that is what makes Vena Cava so awesome,

is that mothers and daughters and sisters and friends

all kinds of women

can wear their clothes-

though it's true they do cut for a certain body type,

which makes sense-

however, their collections usually strive for an ageless quality

that steers clear of trends and moments,

and inspires people to read more and take better care of the clothes they have

for these are clothes and ideas that will last a lifetime.

I have VC pieces that are from their very first collection

that I still wear

that still get me stopped on the street.

I wish I had this one dress from their first collaboration post-Parsons,

the one Sophie lent me for her graduation party.

I have a polaroid of it.

A knit sheath, long sleeves, high neck, black with brown strips of fabric sewn on

like armour or stained glass.

I would still wear that dress.

I think she sewed it herself.

Just looking at Proenza Schouler's new collection.

My passion for their clothes has been increasing incrementally since

that first pair of outrageous patent leather bondage andwood wedge platforms

I scored at the Barneys sale a few years back.

But like an IDIOT I think I sold them at Ina. Dumb.

Anyways,

in the style.com review the boys claim they say,

"So we took all these feminine codes—the embroideries, the flowers—and mixed them up in our own way. We wanted to do something without any obvious references."

but I find it quite inspired, and inspiring and exciting.

From the embroidery and lace, to colors and unusual jackets.

And the shoes.

They remind me of my beloved Dries Fall 2009.

The Feast has moved

Moving back to LA from New York terrified me for a few reasons,

but one of the most dire was "there's nothing to eat in LA!!"

I am relieved to report that I was so wrong! I am loving it back here in LA.

We've gone exploring in Malibu (dead seal beach), eating thai food and mexican food and korean food, and sandwiches plus I've been cooking and cooking like it's my job. Perhaps it should be my job!

1. Lemons everywhere! I've made basil lemonade, lemon gelato, lemon pasta and lemon curd. Next on the list: madeleines (my favorite recipe). Another stroke of genius - take your homemade lemon curd and put it into your favorite plain yogurt and stir. Add some walnuts for texture...and delicious!!!

2. Thai food: I was lamenting the loss of proximity to Sripraphai in Queens...but then I remembered Jitlada! Their morning glory salad may not be as delicate as Sripraphais. Maybe the quality has gone down a bit with their popularity, but whatever! It's still delicious and spicy hot and slow burning and great.

Love their veggie red curry and the crying tiger beef salad. Mmm.

3. Korean food: this is a cuisine I thought I loved, but I don't.

4. The garden: tomatoes and strawberries, three types of basil, brussels sprouts and squashes, apples, oranges, lemons, and beets. Yes Yes Yes!

Before I left New York my lovely and wonderful roommate, Dena, gave me some hair products that weren't working for her. She favors a sleek and straight look while I am lazy and let my curly hair look like the pile of dried up tomato vines I cut out of the garden this morning.

UNTIL NOW! I have discovered the way to the ropey, lanky locks I've been searching for since my hair was long enough to look like a disaster.

Sally Hersheberger has the answer. I'm not the hugest fan of S.H. since I stopped going to her incredibly expensive, poorly lit and obnoxious salon on 14th Street. I couldn't handle it there. But I can handle this stuff! And it's under $20 which is so exciting (take that Frederic Fekkai!).

Even my mother comments on how good my hair looks these days.

Every girl who has a fashion blog does some kind of Chanel quote/image thingy.

Here's mine. I must always be typical, you know.

I admire her not just for her talents or her style but for her fearlessness. She truly did her own thing, didn't give a fuck who knew or who cared. She had a vision and went straight for it no matter what. She didn't give a fig about being a wife or a mother, being a lawyer or a doctor, having the latest thing or being the latest thing. She cared about love, about clothes, about living life. And she was a riotous success. The movies with all their production and care can not capture that. People are always wondering things like 'why ees thee french girl always zo sheek?' what ees thees jay nay say qua?? Chanel is the first Parisienne, the one that all other Paris girls model themselves on whether they know it or not. I believe that if you truly want to have a french style then follow Chanel's dictums and life. You don't need Chanel to be chic or elegant or beautiful. She didn't have Chanel when she started out. She only had herself, and look how hot she was, always, throughout her life.

It's just that she was, and is, right and no one else is saying what she said. Moreover, no one is listening to what she said or what she did. We like how she looks and praise her for her accomplishments (and ignore that she dated a nazi), but she knew how to dress women and how a woman should dress, and most importantly she knew how to live and to get what she wanted without compromising herself.

She was right. You never knew who would walk in there.

When I am sick in bed a fun way to pass the time is to look at every shoe on eBay that is a) made in Italy and 2) Either 8.5, 9, or 9.5. Dries Van Noten...Prada...Sigerson Morrison...miu miu...vintage...and then put these items on my watch list and let every single one of them go bye. Each one is both a tiny victory and a salted paper cut.

Let's take a look at what I found, shall we. Fun!

They are too high, they are too beige, they are vintagey looking and have some kind of odd metal thing up the heel...but I love them. I can't explain it.

Last weekend we spent painting cubes for the Family 30 Days pop-up shop in Tribeca opening this Thursday April 8. Check out the events here. (And the Family blog here for more great things!)

It was the most fun job I've ever had - painting stripes and symbols on Q-Bert cubes, bad radio and my favorite colors and my favorite man in my favorite city, cupcakes across the street and bad radio and lots of trips to Steven Alan and walking and laughing and hand holding.

PS. The Spike Palette is not named after a certain famous film director Spike but rather after my childhood nickname spike. The palette is bright orange, teal, yellow, grey, peacock blue, pale pink...and all the colors this blog is inspired by. Yay!!

I truly love Cathy Horyn. I don't always agree with her, but I do love her style and how she can write about fashion intelligently and humorously. Today her blog talks about how thin and boring magazines have gotten, and a pretty good forum of comments has followed suit. The Times does have excellent fashion coverage and while it's not a magazine, per se, it mostly satisfies the need for the good/great fashion magazine experience that died along with Liz Tilberis. Cathy's entry was too brief and could have said a lot more about the dumbing down and ad-ing up of magazines, but the comments are quite good - especially the guy that calls out the smaller, artsier books for being overpriced and seriously pretentious. I don't think there really is a fashion magazine that I love any longer. Not Self Service, definitely not Lula...I can't even think of anything else! Wait!! Acne Paper- that's the ticket!!! The Best!!
Created around one central idea twice a year, the editors of Acne Paper take the time to get things just right. It's definitely worth the wait and each issue is like opening up a gift. Each time you revisit one of these Acne Paper's - copies which I've had for years and still tear out and read and love - I find something new to be excited about. And isn't being excited about something just one of the best feelings?

The Mystery

I rarely read magazines any more, or look at them. When I do I'm usually disappointed - especially if I paid for them. There is nothing new to magazines so I say to hell with them if they can't stay relevant. These vintage (ok, kate moss not so vintage, but still an intriguing cover) covers are works of art in and of themselves which I think make them far more valuable than any Vogue cover I can remember in the past five years (except maybe that Nicole Kidman one by Irving Penn, but that was 2004). Can we please have fewer headlines and more thoughtful magazine covers? Why the hell not? I'm thinking a lot about when I first started caring about fashion and magazines, about my long lost stash of Harper's Bazaar from the 1990s (Liz Tilberis/Fabien Baron era), and the very first W Magazine I got in the mail - November 1992 with the circus spread (where can I find this?? Despair!)

Let's bring more creativity to the art of the magazine cover and fewer celebrities! No celebrities! How about no models too? What about art and other things that are visual and beautiful that can make fashion exciting again, give it dimensions beyond the market place, the label, and the bloody boring size issue!! Let's liberate the fashion magazine from it's overstuffed seriousness and bring some humor, light, art, and inspiration back to the magazine. Please!

There are things that women will always want - to feel beautiful, to be successful, strong, and independent. But guess what? No one who is in any way self-respecting and over the age of 18 reads magazines for advice, in all seriousness. Sure, how to put eyeshadow on or what to wear with that new trouser shape, fine. But what will sell the magazines is not headline after headline being shoved down our throats but simple, beautiful, confident covers that exude what we ourselves want to exude: intelligence and beauty. I do not feel either of these things when I read Vogue, of late. Or any magazine for that matter. I do feel that way and get inspired when I look at Garance Dore's blog, or sometimes The Sartorialist, or Tommy Ton's fun pictures. Why can't print hold onto even a thread of that excitement? It's not because they come out once a month versus blogs that can be updated every five minutes, no no no. Magazines should be something to cherish and hold on to - like these vintage Vogues and my old Ws and 90s Bazaars. It's not about fashion, it's about style. And magazines are not about style any more. They must find a way to marry the bottom line with what is at the heart of women who share this love of art and fashion. And that is something timeless.

Don't you just want to read these issues and see what they are all about? I certainly do. Do I want to read about Giselle's latest baby and her celery diet? Heeeeeeeeeeelllll no. (Celeries! They're just like us!)

Discovered at Ted Muehling on Howard Street. She was his apprentice after earning her BFA at Pratt in sculpture and now is solo up in the Hudson Valley. Just went to A Detacher and went a bit nuts trying things on...

love her collection this season- just my colors!! She said it's her "eastern european" collection-

Roumania etc. The blue floral she uses is my favorite blue floral so far. That dress is amazing on, esp. with a dark brown leather belt.

I am in love with the pale pink and am strongly considering the silk skirt. It's very lingerie-y which makes me hesitate but I love the color and if I can figure out a way to improvise my own Dries-ish oversized orange sweatshirt, then I have an outfit for spring that I'd wear daily.

I also like the pale pink lipstick the girls have on. I'm always inspired by her makeup choices - the army green nailpolish from a few seasons ago led me to some good colors over at Rescue beauty, for instance.

Now to find a good pink for me and figure out how to conjure up the perfect orange sweater/sweatshirt...and a good fabric to recover my couch in. I'm thinking of you, poppy red/orange!!

A Year on Elizabeth Street

I have always had this feeling that I was going in the wrong direction, but I kept going that way because it came so easily. Things came to me and I liked them enough to accept them, and life was good. Great even.

I was working in advertising as a creative headhunter for three years. I was good at the job, really good. I found jobs for a lot of people and made my clients (and my bosses) happy. I worked hard and earned good money and was content. Until one day I wasn't content and I stayed that way for six months every day imagining throwing myself out of the 12th story window. I desperately needed change and something different and movement and learning. In short, inspiration to keep living.

Then a new friend (who is now as close as a sister to me) called and said that Jane Mayle needed someone to run her shop on Elizabeth Street in Soho (nolita for the nitpickers). It was what I was waiting for - I thought I wanted to work in fashion, for a local designer, and have more responsibility. I have loved Mayle clothing since I discovered it for myself but never allowed myself to go into the store - it was just too crazy expensive!! (I don't really believe in paying retail prices these days.)

I met Jane and it clicked, I got the job, resigned from advertising, and changed my path and my life. I had great hours - 10/11 am till 8 ish 5-6 days a week - I loved the flexibility and the later mornings. I worked with adorable and hard working girls who took pride in their job. And Jane was brilliant. She taught me so much. I don't think it's a place that exists or could exist anywhere.

Mayle was a store and a clothing collection designed by Jane Mayle, someone with complete freedom and access to her creativity (in my opinion). She was a master at creating desire and frenzy, though it could have had something to do with the limited access and time that the shop would remain open - when I was hired I was told the company would end sometime in the spring.

Things I learned from Jane Mayle: how to create a beautiful and special retail space by filling it with personal items and changing it often, being exact and specific about what you want and where you want it...it doesn't seem like much but I think about her often. I hope she is well and happy and I hope she knows how grateful I am to have worked with her.

I'm now onto the next phase of my life trying to synthesize my experiences in fashion and advertising with my goals/dreams of writing/creative directing/cheese. I'm working on it and this blog is going to help me discover my own spirit and how I can help myself and the world in a meaningful and loving way. I'm not sure how yet but it will happen.

New Yorkers who want to get out of town, to escape, glamourously.

The thought of leaving the city

is almost as good as being here.
